I {heart} NY

Well, we have arrived! We arrived to New York City this past Monday, and the past 5 days have been a total blur. I have never experienced anything quite like it. So many people, so much to see, so little time, so much to walk, so many different subways, so much dirt, so much money!

Although Pat could pass for a New Yorker in this picture, we have a long ways to go before we can take on that title!

Some things we have done so far:

Checked out where Pat is going to be working.

Waited for Subways

Visited Sony's Wonder Technology Museum

Walked miles to the MET to only find it was closed.

Ate N.Y. food.

Our Trip from Coast to Coast

Pat and I had a little mini roadtrip before we headed off to New York. We decided to stay over in Lake Tahoe to split up our drive to California (we bought tickets to fly out to New York from Oakland). It was perfect.

We drove 9 hours to Lake Tahoe. Spent the night at the Marriott. Walked along the beach at sun set. Skipped rock on the blue lake. Enjoyed a soothing hot tub. And headed of the next morning to visit my sister in Sacramento.

While there in Lake Tahoe, we came across this little furry creature who had no fear of us. I took this picture without any zoom. I was probably only 6 inches away.

There we got to meet our newest niece Lyla Rose. We also had fun being with my sister Kim, her husband Sean, my mom, my nephew Eli, and my other niece Julianna.

That weekend we explored San Francisco and celebrated my 26th Birthday. It was great to be home and be with my family before we headed off to the big scary city of New York.

Surpise Party for Lindsay

I know, I know it's not my birthday yet but I just have amazing friends/neighbors. Tonight we planned on having our last FHE together and they surprised me with brownies, ice cream, singing and candles for my birthday that is on the 25th.

We are not going to be around for my birthday so they were so sweet and planned a party tonight.

As excited as we are to go to New York it is so hard to say goodbye to our close friends here. We are all going our separate ways, Mariah and Doug to San Francisco and Chrissy and Jon to Boise, Idaho.

A special thank you to them for tonight and for all the good times we have had this past year as neighbors.

New York City HERE WE COME!

Since February Pat and I have been waiting to hear if Pat will be going on an advertising internship this summer and where that would be. We have been on pins and needles. We found out about a week ago that we are headed off to NEW YORK CITY for 4 months. We had to pull everything together in a very short amount of time and still have a few loose ends. It is exciting too see Heavenly Fathers hand in our lives as everything falls into place better than we could have ever anticipated.

Pat received two internships. One offered through BYU from April 29-June 7th, and the second internship from June 8th-August 7th. The second internship Pat found on his own. He had one interview on the phone and then was invited back for a second interview in New York.

Pat left for New York City, all by his lonesome, on a Sunday morning and returned back on Tuesday late night. It was so hard for me to see him go, as this would be the longest time we have ever been apart.

However, thanks to technology and gmail's video chat it felt like I was right there with him. We spent entire evenings on video chat and I was even tempted to keep it on all night as I slept.

Although it was hard for me to be apart from Pat it was fun to hear about all his adventures in the city where we will be living during the summer.

Pat's interview outfit. Doesn't he look hip yet professional?

He was considering wearing this to the interview but I thought he would be cold.

Pat the Burger King KING!

I don't know why I didn't blog about this back when it happened last year in December.

Pat was working on an ad campaign for Burger King. When his group presented their idea to prestigious ad agency Pat walked into the room wearing this git up and carrying a MASSIVE real burger!

Some of his ad lab buddies and those that worked on the campaign.

After his presentation they decided to take a walk around campus and got some pretty funny reactions from people. When was the last time YOU saw "the King" taking a stroll? This girl was the lucky winner of the massive burger. She looks excited!

Making the Most of the Snow

Back in March, Pat was able to have a free day of skiing with his Ad Lab buds. They are helping in an ad campaign and were able to get some free ski passes and a day on the slopes.

I was so happy he was able to go because ever since we have been married he hasn't been able to go. This is due to 2 main reasons. One, I have only been skiing once in my life when I was 7 years old. And two, it cost so much money.

I was happy he was able to rekindle his love the the mountains and take advantage of all the fun Utah has to offer.

Happy 26th Birthday Pat!!

On March 3rd we celebrated Pat's 26th birthday. It is amazing how time flies and how old we are becoming! I got him some gifts that were a total success which always makes me happy.

This is a Colorado jacket that Pat loved. He bought it during Christmas but returned it due to the cost. So for his birthday I went back to see if they still had the jacket and they did! And better yet it was on sale which made Pat happy as well.

Ever since we went to Yellow Stone National Park last year Pat has been on a quest for Motorcycle boots. He never could find the exact pair that he wanted, there was something always wrong. But leave it to Lindsay to find the perfect pair for him!

Later that night we went to eat Pat's favorite food, sushi, at Happy Sumo with our closest friends.

Doug and Mariah made time in their busy busy schedules to come which really meant a lot to both of us.

Of course the famous life long friends, Ben and Jared came. It wouldn't be Pat's birthday if they weren't there.

And Chris and Annie who have become our life long friends as well came to make the night complete.

After eating to our hearts conent Pat finsihed off this birthday with a scrumptious dessert and a tea light candle to blow out.

Pat, I love you and I hope you had a great birthday.

Lindsay the Ferret Tamer

I know it has been a long time since I posted so the following posts will be an update on what has happened since February.

After I graduated I worked with at my old job as a part time graphic designer. They let me work while I searched for jobs, which was really nice of them. Well, I found a sweet job doing graphic design for a scrapbooking company, which is about a 2 minute drive from where I live. I couldn't be more blessed.

During my last week at work my boss was telling me about a commercial they were going to shoot and how they needed to find a ferret. My ears perked up and was glad to offer my ferret services for a commercial shoot.

However, they wanted a "traditional" looking ferret, aka not a white ferret like Frido, so they went to the pet store and purchased one knowing they wouldn't be able to return it. On the day of the shoot Pat and I brought Frido to work as an understudy, incase the other ferret got camera shy.

That day I found my calling in life as a "Ferret Tamer." I spent the whole day taking both ferrets on walks, getting them familiar with the set and actors, and helping shoot the commercial.

The commerical was a success after multiple scenes and shots. My company knowing they wouldnt be able to return the ferret for a refund offered me the new ferret I discovered I have a major problem—whenever someone offers me an animal my brain turns off and I automatically say "Yes" without thinking. So that day we came home with one more ferret.

After a weekend of potty training and trying to keep track of two ferrets I broke down and needed to find a new home for our new little ferret. It was fun to see Frido and her play but I couldn't handle how I felt like I was living in a Zoo. We found a friend of a friend who already had a ferret and was looking for another one. Everything turned out great, thank goodness. It was fun while it lasted, but once again Frido is the only child.

In the short time they were together they became good friends.

Me and my new found passion and future carreer as a Ferret Tamer.
