Before and After: Push-Pin Board

Not a very attractive picture frame right? Well, when I saw it on sale at D.I. for $2 I knew it had potential. Even though I didn't know at the time what I would do with such a large frame, I knew it would be beautiful someday.

Well, it all came together when Pat was watching the BYU football game. I hate watching football so I put myself to work. I decided to make a push-pin board (like a cork-board with out the cork) to put photos and miscellaneous stuff on.

A very simple project which requires:

1. Empty picture frame
2. Foam board (found at any craft/art store. I found mine at D.I. for $1)
3. Fabric (I found a pillow case at D.I. for $1)
4. Spray Paint
5. Hot glue
6. Staple Gun

The Process:

Spray paint frame. Cut foam board to fit inside frame nicely. Glue fabric tightly around foam board. Put fabric covered board inside frame and stapled to stay put.

And once again, as easy as that, it was done!

I have used this process before on smaller frames to hang my necklaces and earings on.

Storm Women Weekend

Only a few weeks late, but here are some pictures from the infamous "Storm Women Weekend" in California. The pictures are a courtesy of my sister Kim, since my camera broke (it has been fixed and is in the mail as I type! Yipee!)

We toured through Sausalito, Ca, an adorable little town on the bay which looks out across to San Francisco.

We walked the quaint streets,

toured some art galleries
(and yes, that is what we look like as we tour),

and rummage through some antique stores.

All things that I wish I had loads and loads of money to buy everything I saw....someday.

Then we headed to the "local" BINGO hall to play ourselves some fun.

None of us had ever played Bingo like this before. It wasn't as simple as get a straight or diagonal line. It was WAY intense. They had different patterns each round and we had 10 different sets of cards we had to decipher. I think it was a little overwhelming, but the folks there seemed to have a hang of thing, playing thousands (number just a tad over-exaggerated) of cards at once.

We ended the weekend by seeing "Wicked" (my second time). We had GREAT seats and as always, the play was amazing. I loved it the second time because I knew all the music by heart and really could enjoy the story.

Thanks to the incredible Storm Women for making this weekend possible.

Baby Shower Jitters

Yesterday I attended and threw my first baby shower, for my lovely friend Adrianna DeBiekes. I was very nervous to put this on, even had a nightmare about Annie (what I know Adrianna by) getting really mad at me because I didn't have enough games. With this in mind I made sure to have enough games for her liking.

We played the "guessing game" by guessing how many safety pins are in the jar.

We played the "How well do you know the Mommy-to-be" game where the mommy-to-be checks all the characteristics that she wants her baby to have either from her or her husband. Then the guests guess what the mommy-to-be will pick.
Then we played the classic game of guessing how big mommy-to-be's tummy is by cutting string. It was funny to see how some people were WAY off!

Throwing your first baby shower can be stressful, but now that I have done it I would love to throw another one!

If you would like to download and print off the cards I made for some future baby shower follow click on the descriptions below, and then click on the "Download Large Size" link in the top left hand corner.

Girl Guess How Many Safety Pins
Boy Guess How Many Saftey Pins

Girl "How well do you know Mommy-to-be"
Boy "How well do you know Mommy-to-be"

p.s. the colors on your computer are in CMYK so you can print them off, that is why the color looks off on your computer screen.

Sad News...

my camera broke. When I say broke, I mean in pieces. It happened on the first day of the "Storm Women's Weekend Trip" in California. So I didn't get any pictures. I feel like part of my soul died.

The Rowells Come to Provo

Last weekend, when the weather here in Utah was still nice my sister Jodi and her family came to visit us here in fun-filled Provo.

It was such a nice surprise as we didn't have any plans for Saturday night and they called to see if they could come down.

We went to the park and the boys took Frido on a walk.

I had to explain to them that walking a ferret was a bit different than walking a dog. The ferret really walks you instead of you walking the ferret.

Then after the park we headed to good ol' i-Hop for dinner, where you can never go wrong, then to the batting cages for dessert. The boys were REALLY good and got a lot of good hits in. I on the other hand only got a couple of swings in before I called it quits.

As always, it was a fun night with the Rowells.

Doritos Commercial

For the past month or so Pat has been working non-stop on the "Crash the Superbowl" competition Doritos is putting on. If Pat wins, he and his team members will win a million dollars! Easy right? They only have to compete against the whole nation.

But I am so proud of him for working so hard so his idea could come to be.

The ad agency putting this on will pick 16 commercials (I dont know the actual number) for the public to vote on. I will let you know if that happens, so you can cast your vote! haha

So I received a lot of comments of about wanting an explanation of this post.

I thought I would let your imaginations run wild and let you make up your own story. But on Pat's blog he explain the actual happenings...Click here to view Pat's Blog.

Halloween Parties as Snuggie Peeps

Let me paint the scene for you...

On Friday, we spent he afternoon helping decorate our ward building for our ward Halloween Party. The time just flew by and before we knew it we only had 45 minutes to make a dessert and to think up a costume. Of course we had a back up plan, but we were not too excited about it.

So we run to Smith's to pick up some ingredients for a dessert. While we were there Pat saw some Snuggies on sale for 11.99. We had to do it! I mean "It's the Blanket with SLEEVES!"

(look how mobile I am...reading a book!)

We have had this on going joke about Snuggies ever since we saw their ridiculous commercials. Even for one of Pat's internships he made an ad about himself (that is what the company's assignment for him) and he made this:

It was funny because we thought we were so unique in our costumes. However, there was another guy at the party who wore a Snuggie and one of Pat's advertising friends dressed up in a Snuggie as well! It was a popular costume this year.

But the best part about our Halloween costume is that you can use it all year. I even took a nap in it today! Definitely worth the $11.99.

But back to the ward party—it was a hit with delicious homemade chili and desserts. Here are some pictures of the great costumes and the party.

(twins!)

Then, as if the ward party was'nt enough of a Halloween celebration, on the 31st we spent the night watching the scary movie "What Lies Beneath" with our friends Johnny and Joanna. Joanna really enjoyed wearing our costume.
