The Wonderful Life of a Student Teacher
For the past 3 weeks I have started my student teaching, and let me tell you...I have never had a greater respect for what teachers do on a day to day basis. It is one of the hardest things I have ever done, but it has gotten better as time has gone on.
The latest project we are working on is Japanese Prints. The students created their own fish by using different pictures of fish. They turned out really great, each students artwork being totally different.
This is the line that forms at my desk everyday. Elementary students really need a lot of direction and encouragement.
We used styrofoam sheets instead of the traditional linoleum or wood. All they had to do was push down the area with a ballpoint pen, which was still very hard for them. Bless their hearts.

I am glad to hear that it's getting better. You look so grown-up sitting at the teacher's desk! You should have Matt come in as a guest-speaker sometime! He'll whip those kids into shape. haha
ReplyDeleteHi! SO?! How did it go?! I am SOOOOOO jealous of you!! I miss my elementary kids!! :,-( I hope it all went good for you!! We were just reading some of the letters i got from my students. It was funny!! They were from one day when they were really bad!! They were so funny to read!! They are all like "I'm sorry for being mean bad. I love you." Soooo cute!!! I miss them!!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you are to these kids like Mrs. Paterson was to us. That is so amazing, I know they must love you!!
ReplyDeleteMy sister the teacher. That is so crazy. It seems so real. Momma told me that it has been very diffucult for you, so i am glad to hear from you that it is getting better. I am sure that you are going to make a great teacher if you still want to do it when you are done. Time will tell. Just remember that you will get to do your own thing when you have your own class.
ReplyDeleteI like the new look of your blog. Also thats awesome you are already student teaching. I miss those days of elementary art and projects.
