Book Review: Diary of a Wimpy Kid

A few weeks ago we went up to my sisters house for the weekend. My almost 8 year old nephew, Luke, had checked out this book from the library. While lounging around I picked up the book and read a few pages. I was shocked at how funny and witty it was. I was hooked! Then this past weekend my sister and I got two, let me repeat, TWO, massages on Saturday. While I waited for my turn, I read this book.

Synopsis:
It's a new school year, and Greg Heffley finds himself thrust into middle school, where undersized weaklings share the hallways with kids who are taller, meaner, and already shaving. The hazards of growing up before you're ready are uniquely revealed through words and drawings as Greg records them in his diary.

Review:
Even though this is a childrens book, written for 9-12 year-olds, I found the book extremely entertaining and hilarious. It brought me back to my junior high years and the perspective I had at that age. The main character's take on life is unique and quirky, leaving you wanting more. Pictures are interwoven throughout the book which adds as the punch line in many of the stories. It is definately a book I would pick up if you have an hour to spare and be entertained.
