Occupy Wall Street

Occupy Wall Street has received a lot of media attention over the past few months so Pat and I decided to go down to check out the protest with our friends, Matt and Maria, to see what all the hype was about.

The Occupy Wall Street website states that "Occupy Wall Street is leaderless resistance movement with people of many colors, genders and political persuasions. The one thing we all have in common is that We Are The 99% that will no longer tolerate the greed and corruption of the 1%."

Although I may or may not agree with their movement, one thing is for sure, I am grateful for a country that allows us to speak our minds, perform protest, and enjoy all that comes with "freedom of speech."

When I was there is seemed that there were many messages being shared. Everyone had something to say from "Frack is Wack" to joining a "silly walk" group where they would walk around all silly.

When I was there I was reminded of a time in high school where we had a "silent walk out" during out lunch break. I didn't know why were were "walking out" to go stand on the field where we weren't allowed, but it didn't matter to me, it just seemed fun and exciting so I was happy to just be a part of the action.

My adorable friend, Maria.
We saw Rosie O'Donnell at the Occupy Wall Street Camp. I don't think she is part of the 99%.
Pat and Matt really enjoying themselves at the camp site.

Who knows what the "Small is beautiful" sign is all about. I guess it is up to us to decide.
I was surprised by how many news stations were there. They have really created quite a stir.
Don't know who this guy is but there were a lot of people filming him so I thought I would get in on the action.
This is a video that Pat saw a few weeks back of an individual who was protesting.

Just a few blocks away from Occupy Wall Street there was another protest happening for a different cause, reducing violence in our neighborhoods. This was quite a Saturday!  What a country and city we live in, huh!?

  1. yes what a city you live in...there's a "Occupy Provo" and it's really lame. I shouldn't say that, but it makes me laugh when I see it in comparison to wall street. Love you.

  2. Of course you guys went down there! Everyone else avoids it like the plague, and you guys go down there! Haha. You'll be glad you got pictures---it will be cool to look back on some day!

  3. So...I have been totally out of the media lately. So out of it that when I saw halloween costumes (2) that said "I am a part of the 1%" I laughed acting like I knew what it meant and didn't. Thanks Linds for keeping me up to date on my current events. It does look fun to go out and mingle with our brethren the 99%.
