On Thursday morning, I got a call from Pat while I was at work. He told me that the original cat that we had wanted at the breeders, became available, after someone backed out of purchasing him.
You see, before this whole escapade began, we saw a little cute gray hairless kitty on the internet. We called to see if we could come look at him; however, by the time we got there someone had already put a down payment on him. We were bummed but the breeder had another litter of kittens the week prior and said there were still a few available.
It was a hard decision because the kittens were still so small and you couldn't tell their coloring or personalities yet; however, we picked one out and put a down payment on a little hairless kitty that was only a week old.
The weeks passed very slowly as we anticipated getting our little kitty mid June. However, this last Thursday, when the breeder called, she offered us that first cute gray kitty instead of the one we had been dreaming about for the past month. WHAT WAS ONE TO DO?!?!?!
It was a hard decision because we felt emotionally invested in the kitty we put a down payment on. But we also loved the markings on the other cat. After hours of debating the pros and cons between the two cats we still couldn't decide. I know the decision wouldn't really matter in the long run, and that we would love whatever cat we had, but it still was so hard to make.
Pat asked the breeder which one she would take if she was in our position. She said the gray kitten because he was super cuddly and enjoyed his weekly baths. She had said the magic word: CUDDLY. Right then and there I knew what choice to make.
Because this kitten was a few weeks older he was ready to come home right away. That night Pat and I went to Petco and bought all the supplies we would need for our new arrival. I was so excited, I could hardly wait for Saturday when we would pick him up.
So this morning, Pat and I woke up at 7am to drive out to Brooklyn to pick up our new baby. When I saw him again I knew he was meant to be ours. It was as if destiny brought us together again (hahaha).
On the drive home, our new kitty slept the whole way on my lap as happy as could be. Upon arrival at our apartment, he was a little timid with the new atmosphere; however, within a half an hour he was comfortable and playing just as a good little kitten should. Every so often, he would get tired and come cuddle and take a quick "cat" nap on our chest or shoulder. He truly does love to be near us already.
A few of our fellow cat lover friends, Johnny, Joanna, and Nate, stopped by to meet or new kitty and he took an instant liking to Joanna by taking a nap on her chest as well.
Even though we had fallen in love with the other kitty we had originally picked out, we are so happy with our decision. It definitely seems like it was meant to be.
The only problem is, is that we are now nameless. We are not sure if we can name him Meatball because the names seems tainted in a way. So here are the new names we are deciding on:
1. Mr. Batman
2. Monty (as in the Full Monty because our little kitty is naked)
3. Meatball (and oldy but a goodie)
What do you think?

I want to be you so badly right now. I'm still for meatball. :)
ReplyDeleteI actually like Mr. Batman a lot. I like his gray color a lot. I don't think meatball fits as well with this kitty because he's gray instead of the meaty brownish-red. What about "Suede." I'm sure whatever you name him will fit him just right. I'm so happy for you guys. He is really cute! Have fun with your new little friend!
ReplyDeleteI like Monty. A classy name for a classy cat.
ReplyDeleteHe is just too much! You need to frame that picture of him and you together. I love it.
ReplyDeleteI like Monty best. I want to see this cat in person. I will admit I thought he was cuter in the video than in the pictures. I still need to see him in real life to truly be converted to the whole hairless cat thing. Haha. I'm happy you finally got him though and that you like him!
ReplyDeleteahhhhh we looooooove him. we've been talking about the kitties ever since we saw him.
ReplyDeleteI think Batman is very applicable, considering the height those ears get to, but I really think Monty fits him better. He's cute!
