Saturday.

This past Saturday had no rhyme or reason. It was just one of those days that unfolds before you and turns out beautifully. The MOMA (Museum of Modern Art) kept our attention for a few hours with many unique pieces of "art."

This exhibit it currently on display. Over the course of the exhibition, attendants mark Museum visitors' heights, first names, and date of the measurement on the gallery walls. Beginning as an empty white space, over time the gallery gradually accumulates the traces of thousands of people. I thought is was amazing to see the beauty that came by simply measuring the heights of the MOMA's visitors.

All you parents better start saving your kids coloring books. They could be worth a lot of money someday.

Nate and Meri thinking hard about the age old question
"What is Art?"

This is one of my favorite paintings by Picasso titled "Girl before a Mirror"

When I student taught I loved to show the students this art work by Meret Oppenheim, which is a tea cup, saucer and spoon covered in fur. They would always get a kick out of it.

The oringinal Van Gogh "Starry Night" was quite a hit.

Cupcakes. I am not a fan of the cupcake but Crumbs almost was the exception.

These were not your ordinary cupcakes. They had tons of delicious flavors covered in heaps of goodness.

We had a hard time trying to figure out a dignified way to eat them.

Then to rekindle with Patrick's Catholic roots we headed on over to the largest Catholic Cathedral in the United States—St. Patrick's Cathedral.

I love the lit candles. I think the LDS church should take up this tradition.

Fun Fact:
Patrick was in fact named after Saint Patrick who is generally the most recognized Saint of Ireland. When Saint Patrick was about 14 he was captured by Irish raiders and taken as a slave to Ireland, where he lived for six years before escaping and returning to his family. After entering the Church, he later returned to Ireland as an ordained bishop in the north and west of the island. By the eighth century he had come to be revered as the patron saint of Ireland.

  4. One of the most spiritual experiences of my life was singing at St. Pat's in NYC as a 10th grader in my gold award winning choir. It was amazing. We sang O magnum mysterium and other beautiful hymns. The acoustics in that building are phenomenal.
