Cookie Exchange Party {2010}

This past Monday, Pat and I held our first cookie exchange party. I had never heard of one of these shindigs before, until a girl at my work had one. I thought it sounded like such a fun idea that I just had to have one. So the planning began...

I sent out the electronic invitation with the assignment to make 3 dozen cookies, researched the best chocolate chip cookie recipe ever, harassed my friends to send me their recipes, made recipe booklets, cleaned, found burning logs on youtube, bought a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree, and bought the necessary drink for such an event...MILK.

The invitation poem:Come and enjoy and evening of fun and sweets,
as we talk, laugh, eat and listen to Christmas beats.
This is no ordinary party, but one with a task:
to bring 3 dozen cookies, I hope this isn't too much to ask.
Don't worry no cookie will be the same,
since you will email me the recipe along with the name.
Be sure to bring a box or tin,
So you can leave the party with a ton of treats and a grin,
I hope you will come and celebrate,
as we end the year by eating cookies, I can hardly WAIT!

I was a little nervous at how 9 couples would fit in our tiny apartment, but amazingly enough they all kinda fit. Of course some people had to sit on the ground...sorry Julie, Maribeth, and Christa!

When the guests arrived with their delicious 3 dozen cookies, one dozen were set out for immediate enjoyment, while the other 2 were set aside for the "cookie exchange" portion of the evening.

Because there were so many yummy cookies, I later found several plates with one bite taken out of each cookie--they were all so good you didn't want to leave any out.

When everyone had time to sample the sugary goodness, we all went around and told a "story" about the cookies we chose to bring. It was fun to hear the "stories" and "non-stories" of each cookie.

I was so impressed with the Smiths because Ashley was sick
but still managed to come to the party. Now that is dedication!

I had so much fun eating cookies and being with friends.
I hope everyone left with yummy cookies and their recipes to aid in their Christmas celebrations.

mine and my phototastic friends Maribeth and Angie)
